Attention culture vultures: the River Arts District in Asheville, North Carolina wants you! This desirable destination offers several opportunities throughout the year to take in incredible shows featuring the work of local artists. On the second Saturday of each month, you can check out A Closer Look, which is comprised of artist demos, open studios, and classes. During the month of August, you’ll be treated to paintings and drawings that include everything from illustrations and printmaking to 2D mixed media. The month of September is all about work done in clay while October will bring out photographers, who will showcase their color and black-and-white scenes of people and nature. Come December, holiday events galore will be in store for you.

On Saturday and Sunday, November 9 &10 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the River Arts District will present the Studio Stroll. Over 180 artists open the doors to their studios to the public who will be treated to all types of unique art and fascinating demonstrations. It’s a great way to support these hardworking, talented folks and, at the same time, find a great gift for yourself, friends or family members. Bring your walking shoes because the studios are located all along the French Broad River in nearly 20 historic buildings. Best of all, you can reach the River Arts District easily by car from downtown Asheville as well as Biltmore Village or via the free trolley.
