Make this year's Halloween a wild and wacky one by attending Stingy Jack's Pumpkin Patch in the mountains of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, home of the annual Fall Pumpkin Festival. Taking place on weekends from October 5 through October 26, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., this spooktacular seasonal event features a myriad of fun things to do. There's a pumpkin carving contest where up to $1,000 in cash will be given away in prize money to the lucky winners. You have to be 13 years of age or older to enter, which you can do online. Make sure to enter early as only the first 100 people will be accepted during each weekend.

You won't want to miss Stingy Jack's Illuminated Pumpkin Trail. This is a mind-blowing trail concocted completely out of pumpkins by area artists. When the sun goes down, the round orange gourds light up to fantastic effect. Not for the squeamish, Stingy Jack's Zombie Challenge is sure to entice those with a penchant for adventure. Mysterious events have been taking place and rumor has it that a zombie virus has infected everyone in the region. The only hope is to find a cure. Fast. The clues to the antidote are strewn among the debris that litters Stingy Jack's. Kids 10 years old and up are invited to join in to solve this confounding mystery.
