The annual Coon Dog Day Festival. returns to Asheville on June 9, 2016. It's the ultimate celebration for dogs and their people, featuring live music, street dancing, crafts, and more. The homecoming event returns for its 53rd year for an all-day celebration on Saturday. Coon Dog Day started as a fundraiser for the local Coon Club and has grown into an event that attracts more than 10,000 people every year.


Make your way to Downtown Saluda for the festivities and enjoy local eats, shop for crafts, and watch street dances. The parade is one of the highlights of the event and you can follow the parade route to explore the downtown area.


The official Coon Dog Day schedule of events will be posted by the middle of June. If you're planning to at-tend the festival, don't miss the chance to explore some of the unique attractions around Saluda. This historic city is home to several art galleries, music venues, and old theaters that still host music performances throughout the year. Explore some of the beautiful gardens around the region, including the 16 miles of trails in the Green River Game Lands and the botanical garden.
