  • Is the road safe for long-distance travel?

    The Blue Ridge Parkway is safe for any kind of travel as long as it's open, which is every day of the year. Exceptions are for certain sections that may be shut down because of ice or snow as well as maintenance or construction. That’s why it’s always a good idea to check the conditions of the road before heading out. For details, call the Park Information Line at 828-298-0398. 
  • are there any rules i need to know about?

    There are several rules that must be adhered to on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is part of the National Park Service. The speed limit is 45 miles per hour. If you’re going to pull off the road, you must do so either on the shoulder or in a designated parking area. Dogs must be on a leash while you are walking in the Park. Camping is permitted but only in campgrounds or specific sites.
